Nominate your organisation

Register your structure in five steps: what you contest, your representatives, and your candidates — each checked against the voters’ roll as you go.

Read the steps
  1. Go to cputelections.co.za. Open the menu, then Organisations, and Nominate your organisation.
  2. Step 1: your organisation’s name, and a short bio if you like.
  3. Step 2: tick every campus where you contest the LSRC, and tick CSRC if you contest the central council. LSRC takes up to 40 names per campus; the CSRC is one central list of up to 20.
  4. Step 3: you are the representative. Add your details and a password.
  5. Step 4: add your candidates, one row each. Regulation 7.4.1: no first-year student may stand. Each row is checked against the voters’ roll when you move to the next one, and a problem shows straight away. CSRC candidates also need their campus.
  6. Step 5: check the summary, tick the declaration, send the code and enter it from your email. You are in the SRC portal, and your candidates get an email to accept.
  7. The election office confirms your organisation; then you submit each name for vetting.

Import your candidates from a sheet

Upload one Excel or CSV sheet. Every name is checked against the voters’ roll, you fix anything flagged on screen, then submit.

Read the steps
  1. Prepare one row per candidate: List (LSRC or CSRC), Campus, First name, Surname and @mycput.ac.za email.
  2. Sign in to the SRC portal, open your organisation area and tap Import candidates from a sheet.
  3. Download the template if you need it, choose your file and tap Read and check the sheet.
  4. Every row is checked against the voters’ roll. Fix a student on the wrong campus list, or remove a row for someone who is not on the roll.
  5. When every row passes, submit. Each candidate gets an email to accept and complete their details.
