I am an active SASCO member who joined the organisation in 2024. Since joining, I have been committed to the values of student unity, leadership, transformation, and the advancement of students' interests. My involvement in SASCO has helped me develop my leadership, communication, teamwork, and organisational skills. In the previous elections, I stood for the position of Secretary, although I was unfortunately not elected. However, this experience did not discourage me; instead, it strengthened my determination to continue serving students and contributing positively to the organisation. I believe that leadership is about service, accountability, listening to others, and working collectively to address students' challenges. I remain committed to SASCO's mission and to promoting student rights, academic success, and equal opportunities for all students.

Originally from KwaZulu-Natal and still navigating humble beginnings, I understand that the opportunity to pursue an education is something to be valued and protected. As a second-year BSc Nautical Science student and former Head Girl, I have learned that leadership means more than being seen; it means standing up for others, especially when their voices are overlooked. In high school, I introduced and led a Student Wellness Club because I believe mental health deserves to be taken seriously, not dismissed or hidden. That commitment continues to shape the leader I am. Hardworking, compassionate, and determined to make a difference. My passion for the ocean has also given me a unique perspective on opportunity, resilience, and the importance of opening doors for others. As LHC and Welfare Officer, I want every student to know that their struggles matter, their voices deserve to be heard, and their well-being is worth fighting for.

Hi everyone! My name is Liyabona Langwe, and I am a first-year student at CPUT running for LHC and Welfare Officer. I believe that leadership begins with listening, understanding and showing up for others. Sometimes, what a student needs most is not someone with all the answers, but someone willing to listen, take their concerns seriously and help them find a way forward. That is the kind of leader I aspire to be. My goal is to help foster a residence environment where every student feels safe, valued, included and comfortable speaking up. I am committed to approaching students with empathy, treating their concerns with respect and working towards practical solutions. I may still be growing as a leader, but I am ready to learn, serve and make a meaningful difference. Because student welfare is not just a responsibility; it is about people, and every person matters.

I am a passionate and dedicated student currently pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Adult and Community Education and Training (ACET). My journey in education has strengthened my belief that everyone deserves equal opportunities, dignity, and a sense of belonging.
